Toledo Falls at MAC Foe Ohio, 85-66

ATHENS, Ohio – Toledo dropped an 85-66 decision against Ohio on Saturday in the Convocation Center. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 6-3 overall, 2-3 in the Mid-American Conference.

Sophomore Quinesha Lockett paced Toledo with 15 points, while freshmen Khera Goss and Mickayla Perdue contributed 11 points each. Perdue produced in a big way in her most extensive action as a Rocket, shooting 4-of-5 from the field in a season-high 14 minutes off the bench.

"I was very proud of Mickayla's performance today," Toledo Head Coach Tricia Cullop said. "She's getting better and better each day and she needs to get more playing time."

Toledo also received six points, a team-high nine rebounds and three assists from sophomore Sophia Wiard.

The Rockets fell behind early, trailing 24-13 at the end of the first quarter and 48-25 at halftime. As a team, the Midnight Blue & Gold shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the field, including 19.0 percent (4-of-21) from three-point range, and 78.6 percent (22-of-28) from the charity stripe.

"It's unfortunate that we didn't knock down some more shots in the first half," Cullop said. "I thought our kids played harder after halftime and made some shots. It's just tough to fall behind early against a good team like Ohio that has a lot of weapons."

Cece Hooks led the Bobcats (5-3, 3-2 MAC) with a game-high 24 points, followed by the trio of Caitlyn Kroll, Erica Johnson and Gabby Burris with 14, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Ohio did a bulk of its damage from beyond the arc, knocking down 13 three-point field goals to hand Toledo back-to-back losses for the first time this year. Seven different Bobcats hit a three from three-point range, including a contest-best four by Kroll.

FIRST QUARTER
• The Bobcats came out firing, burying four treys to build an early 24-13 lead. Three different Ohio players knocked down triples at the outset, including two from Peyton Guice.

• Toledo's Lockett was also efficient shooting the ball from three-point range at the outset, drilling a pair of triples.

SECOND QUARTER
• Kaylee Bambule converted two long-range baskets to begin the second period, followed immediately by one from Hooks to stretch Ohio's advantage to 33-17 at the 5:37 mark.

• The Rockets' deficit remained at least 14 points for a majority of the quarter. Toledo just could not find its offensive rhythm in the quarter and was held to only two field goals in the stanza, making the score 48-25.

• Lockett and Goss paced Toledo with six points each in the first half, while Hooks led Ohio with a game-high 13, including 11 in the second period.

THIRD QUARTER
• The Rockets fought back coming out of halftime receiving back-to-back layups from newcomers Halle Idowu and Perdue to make the score 60-38, forcing Ohio to call a timeout at the 2:39 mark.

• Perdue remained dialed in offensively in most extensively game action this year, converting an additional three-point field goal and layup to set the score at 67-45 after 30 minutes of action.

FOURTH QUARTER
• Lockett and the Rockets did not go down without a fight, as the team captain hit four-consecutive field goals, but it was just not enough as Ohio had too much firepower on this day.
