Toledo Ties School Record with 17 Treys in 96-63 Win over EMU

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo tied a school record on Tuesday night with 17 three-point field goals in a 96-63 triumph over Eastern Michigan in Savage Arena. The victory extended the Rockets' winning streak to eight games and gave them an 11-3 overall record and a 6-0 Mid-American Conference mark.

"When you make 17 threes it makes your zone offense much easier to run," Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. "It was a good performance overall from start to finish for us. I have a lot of respect for Eastern Michigan head coach Rob Murphy and they play it (zone) better than anybody. We have a confident group that is led by two senior guards in Marreon Jackson and Spencer Littleson whose leadership rubs off on everybody."

Sophomore Keshaun Saunders paced a balanced Toledo attack with a career-high 20 points. He knocked down 5-of-6 three-point attempts, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.

Seniors Spencer Littleson and Marreon Jackson each buried five triples as well and finished with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Also scoring in double digits were freshman Ryan Rollins (14 pts.) and junior Setric Millner Jr. (10 pts.).

Junior Bryce McBride paced Eastern Michigan (3-4, 1-3 MAC) with 12 points.

Toledo dominated the glass, outrebounding the Eagles, 43-27, for a season-best plus-16 rebounding margin. Millner led the Rockets' rebounding efforts with seven boards with redshirt freshman Mattia Acunzo, Littleson and Rollins grabbing six rebounds apiece.

The Rockets shot 55.1 percent from the field and a scorching 53.1 percent (17-of-32) from three-point range. Toledo also dished out a season-high 26 assists as seven different Rockets collected three or more helpers.

Toledo returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 16 when it travels to Akron to face the Zips (4-3, 2-2 MAC) in James A. Rhodes Arena.
