Toledo Shoots 289 to Finish Seventh at Tiger Invite

OPELIKA, Ala. – Sophomore Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi posted a career-best 17th-place showing on Tuesday to help the Toledo men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at Auburn's Tiger Invitational. The Rockets shot their best round of the tournament today with a one-over par 289 at the par-72, 7,289-yard Grand National Lake Course and finish at 12-over par.

"We talked about the need to build a solid foundation for our team and how they've been able to do that each week this year," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "I know they really enjoyed competing and have positives to home with them from Auburn."
Fathi carded a team-best one-under par 71 today to finish the 54-hole event at one-over 217. Senior Nate Thomson matched Fathi's round to finish tied for 23rd place at two-over 218, while classmate Grant Godfrey tied for 32nd place at four-over par 220

Rounding out the Rocket lineup and senior Rasmus Broholt Lind (76-75-73) and sophomore David Amm (75-75-74) tied for 56th place.

Jackson Wedgeworth of North Alabama earned medalist honors at nine-under par 207, while No. 15 Auburn captured the team title at 10-under par 854.

Toledo returns to action on Sunday-Monday, March 29-30 when it travels to Wilmington, N.C. for the Seahawk Intercollegiate.
