Jordan Doore,
Yana Khabina and
Stephanie Sherman have been named captains for the women's track and field team, head coach Andrea-Grove McDonough announced today. One captain is chosen by the coaching staff, while the other two are chosen by their peers.Â

"All three of our captains are perfect representations of the core values of our program," said head coach
Andrea Grove-McDonough. "They are outstanding students with positive attitudes and tremendous work ethics. All three of them are very involved in the community, are selfless teammates and great role models. I am very proud of the way these student-athletes represent us in and out of competition, at our University and in our local community."

Khabina is a sprints and jumps specialist from Kiev, Ukraine. On Jan. 25, Khabina broke Toledo's indoor 600 meters record at the SPIRE Midwest Open, which earned her MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honors. Khabina also leads the Rockets in the 400 meters and is a strong contender in the long jump event. The Kiev, Ukraine native has experience in postseason competition, having qualified for the NCAA East Prelims in the 400 meter hurdles in 2018. Off the track, Khabina is working towards a masters of science in applied business analytics.Â

Sherman, a distance runner from Sylvania, Ohio, leads the Rockets in the 5,000 meters. She has also posted personal-bests in the 800 meters, mile and 3,000 meters so far this season. During the cross country season, Sherman was the team's consistent No. 2 runner. On campus, Sherman is a bioengineering major as well as the event coordinator for SAAC, secretary of FCA, and the treasurer of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honors society.Â
Doore, who is from Perrysburg, Ohio, specializes in distance events for the Rockets. Doore is actively involved on campus, majoring in environmental studies and is the president of SAAC and a member of the FCA.Â

The Rockets are set to compete in the Akron Invitational in Akron, Ohio as well as the JDL Camel City Elite in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Feb. 7-8.
