BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Toledo swimming and diving team finished the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championships at Buffalo on Saturday, taking sixth place.
Izzy Jones was named to First Team All-MAC.
In todays's final day of action, junior
Izzy Jones broke the school record in the 200 backstroke in the preliminary round, reaching the NCAA-B standard with a time of 1:55.61.

"Overall, I think we had an amazing meet today," said interim head coach
Brie Globig. "Our backstrokers really showed up and gave us some much needed points. Izzy did a phenomenal job in the finals, and that finish was huge for us. Duda's performance in the 200 fly was great to see, along with Kennedy and Lisa in the 100 free. It's exciting to see all of our swimmers making progress and getting lifetime-best times. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this team."

Jones had another stellar day in the water for the Rockets, making it into the A-final of the 200 backstroke. Jones began the final day of the conference championships by setting a school record in the event, clocking a 1:55.61 in the preliminary round to enter the finals seeded second. Her time is an NCAA-B Standard and helped her finish in fourth place overall.
The 400 free relay team of Jones,
Lauren Kilgore,
Lisa Eriksson, and
Kennedy Lovell took bronze with a time of 3:21.97. Their time was less than half a second off of the school record set in 2011. Jones' 50.81 in the opening leg of the relay is the ninth-fastest time in program history int he 100 freestyle.

Duda Sales placed 13th in the 200 butterfly, clocking a 2:04.26.

Redshirt-freshman
Kennedy Lovell etched her name in the Toledo All-Time Top-10 in the 100 freestyle, placing 11th overall with a time of 50.81, the eighth-fastest in program history.

Sophomores
Ashley Jeffreys and
Sydnee Dressel, along with junior
Gracie Storm, made it back to the finals of the 200 backstroke, placing 13th, 14th, and 15th, respectively. Storm also placed 18th in the 1650 freestyle.

Samantha Ekleberry placed 10th in the 1650 freestyle, clocking a career-best 17:09.81.
