Marreon Jackson Erupts for Career-High 37 in 93-81 Win

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Junior Marreon Jackson exploded for a career-high 37 points on Tuesday evening to lead Toledo (14-14, 6-9 MAC) to its second consecutive road win, a 93-81 victory over Central Michigan (13-14, 6-8 MAC) in McGuirk Arena. The victory makes the Rockets the No. 8 seed with three games remaining prior to the 2020 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.

"This was another big win for us and keeps building our momentum for the MAC Tournament," Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. "Marreon had a special night tonight and was really confident out there. All four of our captains really played well. That's what you need to win on the road."

Jackson was extremely efficient shooting the ball as he went 12-of-18 from the field, 7-of-9 from three-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. He scored 16 points in the first half before tallying 21 in the final 20 minutes. Jackson's 37 points is the most by a Rocket since Tyrone Kent scored 37 at Xavier on Nov. 17, 2008 and one shy for the most in a MAC game since Nick Moore tallied 38 vs. Ball State on March. 5, 2003.

Joining Jackson in double figures was junior Spencer Littleson (18 pts.), senior Luke Knapke (15 pts.) and senior Willie Jackson (10 pts.). Willie Jackson grabbed a game-high 10 boards for his 16th double-double, while Knapke tied his career high with a team-best five assists.

Seniors David DiLeo and Rob Montgomery topped the Chippewas offensively with 19 points apiece.

Toledo shot 57.4 percent from the field, including a red-hot 61.5 percent in the second half. The Rockets also buried 12-of-19 (63.2 percent) three-point attempts and 19-of-20 (95.0 percent) free throws.

Central Michigan posted a 46.3 shooting mark and was 12-of-28 behind the three-point arc.

Toledo will play two of its final three games at home, beginning with a 2:00 p.m. matchup vs. Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 29.
