TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo (1-0) will look to continue the momentum from its season-opening victory against Oakland when the Midnight Blue & Gold hosts Horizon League member Detroit Mercy (0-3) on Saturday, Dec. 5. The game is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be streamed on ESPN3.

Toledo outscored the Golden Grizzlies 41-24 in the second half and connected on a sizzling 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the floor over the final 20 minutes to improve to 25-22 (.532) all time in season openers, including 8-5 (.615) under Coach Cullop.

The Rockets will square off against a Detroit Mercy team that is winless through its opening three contests in 2020-21. Most recently, the Titans suffered an 82-45 road setback against Big Ten member Michigan State on Wednesday. Sylare Starks paced UDM with a game-high 18 points versus the Spartans.
Overall this season, Kaela Webb and Markyia McCormick lead the Titans in scoring at 14.3 points per game.Â
Detroit Mercy return nine letterwinners, including four starters, for first-year head coach AnneMarie Gilbert, who previously coached five years at Mid-American Conference member Eastern Michigan from 2007-12.
Toledo and Detroit Mercy will square off for the eighth time in the last nine years and 31st time overall. The Rockets hold a 21-9 (.700) advantage in the all-time series and have won eight of the last nine meetings, including an 82-64 road triumph on Dec. 14, 2019. Toledo also maintains a 12-3 edge in games played in the "Glass City," most recently securing a 77-60 home win on Dec. 21, 2018.
Toledo is 76-47 (.618) all-time against Horizon League schools, including 25-10 (.714) under Coach Cullop.Â
Following Saturday's contest, the Rockets will open Mid-American Conference play at Northern Illinois on Thursday, Dec. 10. The opening tip against the Huskies is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT) in the Convocation Center. Â
