TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo will look to continue its winning ways at home when it entertains Mid-American Conference West Division foe Eastern Michigan (9-9, 4-3 MAC) on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and the division matchup will be televised on ESPN+.Â
In conjunction with tomorrow's division matchup, the University of Toledo will host Rockets' Wine Night. The event will take place in the Fetterman Gym from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and is for fans 21 years old and over only.
Cost to attend Rocket' Wine Night is $30.00 and includes a game ticket, wine samples and appetizers. Tickets are also $20.00 for fans who have already purchased their game tickets. The cost for designated drivers is $20.00 and includes a game ticket and appetizers with soft drinks.
The Rockets are riding a five-game winning streak at home, outscoring their opponents by 9.2 ppg (70.2-61.0) during this unbeaten stretch. The Midnight Blue & Gold is shooting 44.6 percent (131-of-294) from the field, including 36.1 percent (39-of-108) from three-point land, and nearly made as many free throws, 50, as its opponents have attempted, 57. They have also dished out 20 more assists, 87-67, and committed 16 fewer turnovers, 86-70, than their oppositions during the winning streak.Â

Tricia Cullop, Toledo has compiled a stout 142-43 (.768) ledger at home. The Rockets have also been dominant against MAC opponents on their home court, winning 80 of 102 contests (.784).
Toledo and Eastern Michigan will meet for the first of two matchups this year and 85th time overall. The Rockets will travel to Ypsilanti on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the Convocation Center.Â
Toledo leads the all-time series, 51-33, and has won five of the last six meetings against its division rival. The Rockets also hold a 28-12 edge in games played in Lucas County.
A year ago, Toledo swept the regular-season series against Eastern Michigan for the second time in the last three years, claiming a 63-43 home triumph (Feb. 9) and a 70-67 double-overtime road victory (March 6).Â
In the two division matchups,
Kaayla McIntyre averaged a team-high 19.5 points, followed closely by junior
Nakiah Black at 17.0 ppg. McIntyre shot an efficient 45.7 percent (16-of-35) from the field, while Black converted a team-high 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three-point land.
As a team, Toledo shot 41.7 percent (50-of-120) from the floor, including an impressive 40.0 percent (12-of-30) from three-point range, and 56.8 percent (21-of-37) from the charity stripe (66.5 ppg).Â
Defensively, Toledo limited EMU to 32.6 percent (42-of-129) from the field, including 21.2 percent (7-of-33) from beyond the arc, and 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the free throw line (55.0 ppg). In addition, the Rockets totaled 13 (28-15) more assists and 11 more rebounds (91-80) than the Eagles.
Toledo and Eastern Michigan shared one common non-conference opponent in 2019-20: Detroit Mercy. The Rockets claimed an 82-64 road triumph against the Titans on Dec. 14, while the Eagles secured an 84-70 road victory vs. UDM on Dec. 21.
Toledo will battle an EMU squad which snapped a two-game losing skid with a 62-55 home victory vs. Northern Illinois on Saturday. Autumn Hudson paced the Eagles with 13 points, a game-high 10 boards and two rejections, followed by Areanna Combs and Jenna Annecchiarico with 10 and eight points, respectively.
Eastern Michigan tallied 17 points off 21 NIU turnovers to bounce back from back-to-back losses against Buffalo and most recently Central Michigan at home.
EMU, which is 3-6 away from home, features three players averaging at least 8.0 points per game paced by Combs' 17.8 ppg. Â
Toledo comes into Wednesday's contest on the heels with a 73-66 road setback at MAC West Division leader CMU on Saturday, snapping its season-high four-game winning streak.
The Rockets held a 61-58 lead with 5:45 left in regulation when CMU (14-4, 7-0 MAC) went on a pivotal 9-0 run to create an advantage it would not give up. The Chippewas' Kyra Bussell triggered the game-changing burst with a pair of free throws and a triple from the wing to take the wind out of the sails of the visitors.
Black paced Toledo with 19 points, followed closely by freshman
Quinesha Lockett with 15, all in the second half. Black returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous game vs. arch-rival Bowling Green with a concussion sustained late against Akron on Jan. 15.
Toledo also received seven points each from senior
Sara Rokkanen and junior
Tanaya Beacham, but it just was not enough against the Chippewas.
Toledo, which is 5-3 at home this year, features a balanced attack with Black, Beacham, Lockett and senior
Mariella Santucci leading the way at 12.0, 9.4, 9.1 and 8.9 ppg, respectively.
Following tomorrow's home matchup vs. Eastern Michigan, Toledo will entertain MAC East Division foe Kent State (10-7, 3-3 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 1. The MAC cross-division showdown is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be streamed on ESPN3.

NGWIS inspires girls and women to play and be active to realize their full power. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life.
