CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior guard
Marreon Jackson has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, the league office announced on Monday. It is the third time Jackson has won the award in his career, and the fifth time this season a Rocket has earned the weekly accolade.
Jackson continued his great start to conference play by leading the Rockets with 28.0 ppg and 6.5 apg to go along with 4.0 rpg in two games last week. He also shot 44.4 percent (16-of-36) from the field, 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from three-point range and 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free-throw line.
Jackson opened the week with a 29-point, seven-assist outing in an 83-74 victory at Ohio. He got the Rockets off to a great start in the contest by scoring 16 points in the first half en route to a 35-28 advantage. The Cleveland, Ohio native then nearly helped Toledo rally from a 10-point second-half deficit against Bowling Green. He tallied a team-high 27 points (including 19 in the final 12 minutes) and six assists along with five rebounds against the Falcons to become the 48
th Rocket in program history to score 1,000 points in his collegiate career.
Jackson ranks second in the MAC with 19.2 ppg and 6.2 in overall games. He is also second in league contests with 23.3 ppg and 6.3 apg.
Toledo is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts Kent State at 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena.
