Toledo, Ohio— University of Toledo offensive lineman Bryce Harris has been named to the official watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy. The award is presented annually to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
In addition to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, Harris has been named to watch lists for the Rimington Award, Outland Trophy, and Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
A 2018 second-team All-MAC selection, Harris has appeared in 38 games as an offensive lineman, making 30 starts at center and guard. Last season, he was part of an offensive line that helped the Rockets lead the MAC in scoring (40.4) and rank second in total offense (443.8) and rushing (215.9). Harris was also named to the Academic All-MAC squad last season, posting a 3.44 cumulative GPA as a psychology major.
The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the formal announcement of the 2019 recipient will be made at the National Football Foundation's festivities in New York City on December 10. The presentation of the 2019 Wuerffel Trophy will occur at the 51st All Sports Association Awards Banquet on February 14, 2020 in Fort Walton Beach.
