Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo softball team's 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Central Michigan today came thanks to a fifth inning three-run blast from senior Kaitlyn Bergman. The dinger brought around the winning runs and was the catcher's 22nd of her career which tied the Toledo career record set by 2008 graduate Leslie Strong.

The victory was also sophomore pitcher Erin Hunt's 11th of the season. Hunt struck out eight batters today to bring her season total to 158, which is the fifth-most single season strikeouts at Toledo.

Postseason
The Rockets' win today set the bracket for the 2019 Mid-American Conference Tournament in Akron, Ohio. The No. 7 seed Rockets return to action Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. when they take on No. 2 seed Kent State at Firestone Stadium.

How it happened
Toledo 4, Central Michigan 3

CMU opened scoring for the third time this series when two singles and two grounders in the first frame allowed Allison Curtis to come home, putting her side up 1-0.
Toledo responded in the bottom of the inning thanks to a one out bases-loaded sac fly from sophomore Bekah Yenrick that scored senior Megan Choate and made things 1-1. Toledo was unable to bring the others in though as the final out came from a groundout to second.
The Chippewas looked to add some more runs to the board in the next inning after to E5s put runners on, but Toledo caught two line drives and worked a grounder to leave the runners on the bags.
CMU added another run in the third thanks to Rachel Vieira. It started when the second batter of the inning doubled to right field and was then moved to third on the following groundout. Vieira then singled to the six spot to score her teammate and put the Chippewas up 2-1.
The Maroon and Gold's final run of the day came in the fourth when Curtis hit a deep one-on left line triple to move the score to 3-1 CMU.
Toledo come out looking to do damage in the fifth inning, and it all started in the top of the frame when Hunt struckout the side in order, energizing the Rockets for a big turn at the plate.
The bottom of the frame opened with freshman Brianna Robeson getting on thanks to a single. Choate was then HBP to put runners on first and second. Senior Katie Cozy flew out next, but four pitches later the scoreboard read 4-3 Toledo as Bergman hit a dinger over left center. An error and two fielder's choices put two more runners on the bags for Toledo but they were left there as the final batter lined out.
The Rockets would then take down the Chippewas in order in the next two innings to close out the game and give all five of Toledo's seniors a final home victory.
