Katie Dewey finished in 26th place in the first round of competition in the discus with a throw of 49.24 meters at the NCAA East Track & Field Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday.Â

Dewey's throw was a mere 0.68m off from her personal best of 49.92 meters, which she set at the Hillsdale GINA Relays.

Dewey is slated to compete in the shot put on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. The top 12 competitors from each event will advance to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, June 5-8.Â
