OXFORD, Ohio – The Toledo divers sophomoreÂ
Joelle Gallais and freshman
Lina Alli competed at the annual Miami Diving Invitational this weekend. Gallais was able to earn a chance at post-season diving, scoring an NCAA Zone Diving qualifying score on the platform at the first day of competition. The meet was cut short due to chemical issues in the diving well, and the divers were only able to complete competition on the platforms. They also were able to get through the preliminary round of the three-meter board before the diving well was shut down.
"Overall, I am very pleased with the meet," said diving coach
Gabby Agostino. "It was very competitive and everyone was consistent throughout the meet. I am very happy with Joelle's performance, and her NCAA zone score on platform. It was unfortunate that we were not able to finish on the three-meter board or compete on the one-meter board due to the pool being shut down. I am looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing what we can do."
Gallais placed fifth on the platform, scoring a 230.95. Gallais' score is enough to qualify for NCAA Zones in March. Gallais also competed well on the three-meter board, earning a 233.15.
Alli competed well on the three-meter board, scoring a 134.20.
The Rockets swimming and diving team will reconvene as a whole at the University of Indianapolis on Dec. 16 for a tri-meet that will include host Indianapolis and Findlay.
