TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team held their annual end-of-the-year banquet in early December. Ashton Cassel, Anita Mancini, Sheridan Bufe, Stephanie Currie, Brooke Stonehouse, and Olivia Young each earned a team award at the event. The banquet was held in the Grogan Room at Savage Arena.

Sophomore Ashton Cassel was named the team's Most Valuable Player for her efforts in the Midnight Blue and Gold. Cassel started all 19 matches for the Rockets, scoring the second game-winner of her career in the Rockets' 6-1 win over Eastern Michigan in early October. Cassel amassed three assists over the season, including the game-winning helper against Miami on Oct. 20.

Sophomore Anita Mancini was named the Offensive MVP. Mancini played in all 19 of the Rockets matches, earning a starting position in 10 of them. The Canfield, Ohio native scored four goals on the season, including two game-winners against Ball State (Oct. 18) and Miami (Oct. 20). Mancini was credited with three assists, 28 shots, and 18 shots-on-goal. Manicni's efforts against Ball State and Miami helped her earn MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week in Oct. 21.

Senior Sheridan Bufe earned the team's Defensive MVP in her final season in the Glass City. Bufe started in 18 matches, sitting out the first match of the season due to injury. The Lake Forest, Ill. native scored her first-career goal in the Rockets' 4-3 win over Oakland in early September. Bufe added an assist in the same game. Just three days later, Bufe added another goal to her stat line, scoring early in the Rockets' 4-1 win over Wright State on senior day. Bufe was credited with seven shots, putting five on frame.

Freshman Stephanie Currie was named the Rockets' Freshman of the Year after putting in a record season in just her first season in Toledo. Currie started in all 19 matches, scoring a team-high six goals. Currie became just the ninth-player in program history to record a hat trick, scoring three goals against Detroit Mercy in late September. Currie's hat trick was scored in just under 13 minutes, the second-fastest in the country by a true freshman. Currie was credited with three game-winning goal against Oakland, Wright State, and Detroit Mercy. Currie recorded a team-high 33 shots, putting 18 on frame. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week in late September and became the third Rocket in the Buchholz era to earn MAC All-Freshman honors.

After appearing in 13 matches, freshman Brooke Stonehouse earned the Most Improved Award for the Rockets. Stonehouse scored the Rockets' game-winner against Northern Illinois in late October, converting a penalty kick late in the game. Stonehouse also added in a goal in the Rockets' 6-1 victory over Eastern Michigan. Stonehouse wrote her name in the record books, assisting twice in the Rockets win over EMU.

Senior Olivia Young earned the Rocket Award this year. The Rocket award is giving to the player who always puts the team above themselves. Young started in the Rockets' 4-1 win over Wright State. Appearing in 11 matches, Young played a season-high 44 minutes in that game.
