Box Score TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo fell behind early and could not recover in a 60-42 setback vs. Dayton in Saturday's home opener before 3,883 fans in Savage Arena.Â
The Rockets (1-1) did not register a field goal for the first five-plus minutes in today's non-league matchup and suffered their first loss of the season.

Tatyana Davis led the Midnight Blue & Gold with a career-tying best 13 points. Davis shot 5-of-9 from the field in 26 minutes off the bench, including an impressive 3-of-4 from three-point land, to score in double figures for a third time as a Rocket. She also registered 13 points vs. arch-rival Bowling Green on Feb. 2, 2019.

Quinesha Lockett were Toledo's next high scorers with six points each.Â
As a team, the Rockets were limited to 31.3 percent (15-of-48) from the floor, including 25.0 percent (4-of-16) from beyond the arc, and 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from the free throw line.
Shakeela Fowler paced the Atlantic 10 Conference member Flyers (2-0) with a game-high 16 points and a contest-best six assists, followed by Julia Chandler with 10 points. The visitors also benefited from nine points each by Erin Whalen and Jenna Giacone to defeat Toledo for a second-straight year.Â
Dayton finished with a 53-28 edge on the glass and a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint.Â

FIRST QUARTER
• Toledo was held without a basket until the 4:24 mark on a layup by senior transfer
Arianne Whitaker. The Rockets missed 11 of their 13 shots in the period and as a result found themselves down early 17-6.Â
• The Flyers did a majority of their damage close to the basket at the outset, scoring 12 points in the paint. Chandler triggered the visitor's strong play inside with six points to help them build a double-digit lead they would not surrender. Â
SECOND QUARTER
• Dayton remained on the attack at the beginning of the second stanza, tallying 11 of the first 12 points to extend its advantage to 28-7 at the 7:30 mark. The big shots in the second-quarter run were a traditional three-point play by Fowler and a trey from Araion Bradshaw to force the Rockets to burn their second timeout.
• Toledo settled down following the stoppage in play and outscored Dayton 10-4 for the remainder of the half to make the score 32-17 at intermission. Senior
Sara Rokkanen scored five of the 10 points during this late stretch to close the gap a little bit. The Helsinki, Finland native was credited with a triple and a layup in the waning moments to make it a 15-point difference at the break.
THIRD QUARTER
• Toledo's Davis started the third period and tallied a team-high five points to set the margin at 21, 50-29, heading into the final period. The Madison, Ga. native knocked down the second of her three triples and converted a layup in the quarter. Â
FOURTH QUARTER
• Unfortunately for the Rockets, they were unable to close the margin any further and as a result suffered their first loss in 2019-20. Â
