CLEVELAND, Ohio - Freshman Stephanie "Stitch" Currie was named to the 2019 Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team, as announced by the conference office Thursday.
Currie led the way for the Rockets this season, totaling 15 points with six goals and three assists. The impressive left-footer has already written her name in the Toledo record books, scoring a hat trick in the eighth match of the season. Currie is the ninth player in Rocket history to record a hat trick, and the second in the last six years. Currie's hat trick was scored over a span of 13 minutes, the second-fastest hat trick in the country by a true freshman. Her efforts are not just seen in goal scoring, the crafty left forward has recorded three assists, including two in the Rockets 4-3 win over Oakland earlier this September. Her two assists are tied sixth in program history for assists in a game with 43 other Rockets, including teammates Sophia Lewis and Brooke Stonehouse.
Currie is the third Rocket in the Buchholz era to earn All-Freshman recognition, with midfielder Ashton Cassel and goalkeeper Madison Perrin earning the honor the past two seasons, respectively.
