Jaelan Sanford's three-point attempt at the buzzer in overtime bounced off the heel of the iron, ending Toledo's chances to pull off a road victory at Kent State (15-4, 4-2 MAC). The Rockets lost to the Golden Flashes, 87-85.

       Toledo (15-4, 3-3 MAC) led by as many as 17 points in the second half before KSU rallied. KSU's Jaylin Walker led all scorers with 36 points, 27 coming in the second half and overtime.

Luke Knapke's career-high 22 points. Sanford added 17 points, senior forward
Nate Navigato had 16 and sophomore guard
Marreon Jackson chipped in with 15.

       The Rockets led at halftime, 43-36, and pulled out to a 55-38 lead with 15:56 left on a Knapke layup. KSU fought back but UT pushed the lead out to 73-58 with 6:56 to play before Kent State rallied. Walker tied it with a layup with 33 seconds left.
Marreon Jackson missed a driving layup with five seconds left. Walker attempted a three-pointer at the buzzer that was no good.

       Walker scored the game-winner in overtime with 26 seconds left. Knapke missed a three-pointer, and Toledo fouled on the rebound. KSU's C.J. Williamson then missed the front end of a one-and-one to set the stage for Sanford's attempt.

FIRST HALF
- Toledo jumped out to a 15-5 lead thanks to a pair of three-pointers by Marreon Jackson.
- Kent State went on a 10-2 run to trim the lead to two, 17-15, capped by a three-pointer by Akiean Frederick at the 11:14 mark.
- A Luke Knapke dunk at the 9:13 mark upped Toledo's lead to 24-18.
- KSU tied the score, 32-32, before Toledo outscored the Flashes 11-4 in the final three minutes of the half.
- Knapke scored 15 points in the half on 6-of-8 from the field.
SECOND HALF
- Toledo opened the second half with a 12-2 run to extend its lead to 55-38 with 15:56 left.
- KSU rallied but could get no closer than eight points when Toledo went on a 10-3 run to give the Rockets a 73-58 margin with 6:56 remaining.
- The Flashes outscored Toledo, 21-6, down the stretch to send the game into overtime.
OVERTIME
- Sanford gave UT a pair of two-point leads in the extra session, the last coming at 83-81 with 3:49 to play.
- Marreon Jackson tied the score at 85-85 with a pair of free throws with 41 seconds remaining.
- Walker hit the game-winner with 26 seconds left.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior Willie Jackson came within a point of his eighth double-double by tallying nine points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
- Jackson also tallied a career-high five assists.
- Sophomore Marreon Jackson tied his career high with four steals for the second time in three games.
- The Rockets are now 1-1 in overtime contests this season.
