Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo women's track and field team closed out the 12th annual Toledo Invitational with four event victories, 11 top-three finishes and five personal records today. The meet was the Rockets' final tuneup before the Mid-American Conference Championships begin.

"The conditions were pretty tough but I liked that people were fighting and giving it their all despite the tough conditions," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "We're going to Buffalo and the conditions are going to be just as challenging so having a little bit of rain, having a little bit of thunder and having a little bit of wind here was a good final prep for the championships."

UT's victories came from junior Katie Dewey, sophomore Atalia da Silva, freshman Karoline Steppin and junior Shanice Williams. Dewey won the shot put after throwing for 14.54m. Da Silva took gold in the high jump after leaping 1.67m. Steppin won the triple jump after going 12.11m, and Williams closed out the Rockets' top finishers with a 24.52 finish in the 200m.

Toledo now turns its sights to the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competition runs May 10-12 on the campus of University at Buffalo.
