Four Rockets Named Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, senior Michaela Rasmussen, junior Sarah St-Fort and sophomore Mariella Santucci have been named to the 2017-18 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office announced on Thursday. A total of 61 student-athletes were selected to the team from this past season.
Bravo-Harriott and Rasmussen were selected to the academic squad for the school-record third time, while St-Fort is a two-time recipient and Santucci is earning the distinction for the first time. Bravo-Harriott and Rasmussen have also become only the sixth and seventh players in program history to garner academic all-conference recognition on three occasions, respectively.
In addition, Bravo-Harriott and Rasmussen were two of four MAC student-athletes who finished up the 2017-18 campaign with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Bravo-Harriott graduated in December with a degree in communication and a minor in general business. She is currently working on a master's degree in business administration (MBA).
The two-time team captain started every game in 2017-18, averaging 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.6 steals in 29.4 minutes. Bravo-Harriott ranked seventh in the MAC in three-point field-goals made (79, 2.4), 10th in three-points field-goal percentage (.376, 79-of-210) and 19th in scoring. The 2017-18 honorable mention All-MAC honoree concluded the year tied for fifth in UT history in three-point field-goals made (79) and tied for seventh in three-point field-goal attempts (210) in the single-season record book.
The three-time Academic All-District recipient scored in double figures on 22 occasions during the year, the third-highest total on the team, including a season-best 27 points against arch-rival Bowling Green (Jan. 27).
The 2017-18 first-team Academic All-America honoree wrapped up her collegiate career third in school history in three-point field-goals made (245) and three-point field-goal attempts (684), eighth in minutes played (3,587), 10th in three-point field-goal percentage (.358, 245-of-684), tied for 10th in games played (127) and tied for 11th in scoring (1,454 pts.).
A biology major with a minor in chemistry and Spanish, Rasmussen averaged 0.8 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.1 assists and 0.1 steals in 5.5 minutes in 28 games off the bench this past season. The 2017-18 team captain logged at least 13 minutes on three occasions and totaled a season-high four points twice.
St-Fort graduated in December with a degree in a finance and a minor in business management and a 3.34 GPA. She is also currently working on a master's degree in business administration (MBA).
The three-year letterwinner started 24 of 32 games in 2017-18, averaging 2.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.7 steals in 19.0 minutes. St-Fort finished third on the team in offensive boards (31), fourth in rebounding, field-goal percentage (.400, 36-of-90), steals, games started and defensive caroms (67), tied for fourth in blocked shots (4) and fifth in minutes played (609).
A member of UT's Dean's List in Spring 2016 Semester, St-Fort led the Rockets in theft on four occasions and blocked shots twice during the year.
A pre-business major with a 3.22 GPA, Santucci tallied 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 27.3 minutes in 2017-18. She started 21 of 33 games and ranked 10th in the MAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.4, 135-95) and 11th in helpers.
The two-year letterwinner finished second on the squad in assists, steals and free throw percentage (.703, 52-of-74), third in three-point field-goals made (24), fourth in scoring, overall field-goals made (67), minutes played (902) and free throws made (52), tied for fourth in offensive caroms (27) and blocked shots (4) and fifth in overall rebounding, games started, defensive boards (55) and three-point field-goal percentage (.218, 24-of-110).
A member of UT's Dean's List in Fall 2017 Semester, Santucci paced the Midnight Blue & Gold in assists on 13 occasions, steals 12 times, blocked shots on three occasions and rebounding twice during the year.

Toledo finished the 2017-18 campaign with an 18-15 overall record and made its 11th overall appearance in the 2018 Postseason WNIT and sixth in 10 years under head coach Tricia Cullop.
