TOLEDO, Ohio - With fall semester final exams finished, Toledo (6-3) will return its focus to the hardwood on Tuesday, Dec. 18 when it faces red-hot Stony Brook (10-1) in Savage Arena. The contest will tip off at 7:00 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN3.

The Rockets are coming off a tough 72-56 setback against reigning national champion Notre Dame on Dec. 8 before 6,059 fans at home, the third-largest crowd in school history.

UT gave the second-ranked Fighting Irish everything it could handle, as the contest featured four ties and six lead changes.

Senior Mikaela Boyd paced Toledo with 15 points, while senior Kaayla McIntyre and junior Mariella Santucci had 10 each.

Junior Sara Rokkanen added eight points and sophomore Tyra Carlsten-Handberg had six.

Arike Ogunbowale led ND with a game-high 22 points, followed by Jessica Shepard, Jackie Young and Marina Mabrey with 16, 14 and 11 points to snap UT's four-game winning streak.

The Fighting Irish connected on 53.6 percent (30-of-56) from the floor and a blistering 90.0 percent (9-of-10) from the charity stripe to successfully bounce back from an 89-71 loss to now top-ranked Connecticut on Dec. 2 at home.

Toledo continues to be fueled offensively by the quartet of McIntyre, Santucci, Boyd and Rokkanen, who are averaging 14.6, 11.3, 9.8 and 8.1 ppg, respectively. This group is shooting a combined 43.8 percent (145-of-331) from the field and 66.7 percent (76-of-114) from the free throw line. They account for 68.0 percent of UT's scoring (394 of 579) through the first nine games.

UT will tangle with a Stony Brook team that is riding a 10-game winning streak, most recently securing a 70-45 home victory against Wagner on Saturday. Shania Johnson led three Seawolves in double digits with 18 points and eight rebounds vs. the Seahawks, followed by India Pagan with 15 points and nine boards and Oksana Gouchie-Provencher had 10 points, seven caroms and a career-high five blocks.

SBU, a member of the America East Conference, possesses an offense with three  players scoring in double figures, paced by Johnson and Jerell Matthews' 16.5 and 15.9 ppg, respectively. Johnson is also dishing out an NCAA-best 8.9 assists per contest.

The Seawolves, who are unofficially ranked No. 28 in this week's collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, are 4-1 away from home this season.

UT and SBU will meet for the first time on the hardwood.

Toledo is 4-2 (.667) all-time against teams from the America East Conference (1-1 vs. Albany; 2-1 vs. Maine; 1-0 vs. UMBC). Earlier this year, the Rockets dropped a 73-59 decision at AEC member Maine on Nov. 10 in their season opener.

Following tomorrow's contest, UT will wrap up non-conference play against Horizon League member Detroit Mercy (2-7) on Friday, Dec. 21. The opening tip against the Titans is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be shown on ESPN+.

UT and UDM will square off for the sixth time in the last seven years and 29th time overall. The Rockets hold a 19-9 advantage in the all-time series and have won six of the last seven meetings, including an 81-64 road triumph on Dec. 21, 2017.

Toledo also maintains an 11-3 edge in games played in the "Glass City," most recently securing a 72-66 home win on Dec. 21, 2016.

The Rockets are in the midst of a 10-game winning streak against Horizon League teams dating back to the 2014-15 campaign. The last Horizon League squad to defeat UT is Detroit Mercy, 83-72, in the second round of the 2014 Glass City Classic in Savage Arena (Dec. 14).
