TOLEDO, Ohio - Junior Hannah Scafaria scored her team-high fourth goal, but Toledo and Ball State played to a 1-1 (2OT) stalemate in Mid-American Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Scott Park.
The Rockets (4-4-2, 1-0-1 MAC) faced a total of 21 shots in the contest, while taking four shots offensively. Redshirt freshman Madison Perrin made a career-high 10 saves as the Rockets staved off the Cardinals' attack for much of the match.
Toledo and Ball State battled back and forth in the first half with both teams staying scoreless. Ball State came the closest to scoring as a 19th-minute strike rang off the crossbar.
UT made its shots count and jumped out in front, five minutes after halftime, to take a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute. Scafaria broke free and beat the Ball State goalie to the near-side post. The Kalamazoo, Mich. native has now scored in three-straight matches.
Ball State (3-5-2, 1-0-1 MAC) pressured the Rockets with 10 second-half shots and finally broke through with a goal by Lauren Roll in the 83rd minute.
The two teams remained scoreless through the end of regulation and entered overtime tied at 1-1. Two 10-minute overtimes was not enough to decide a winner as the game ended in a draw.
The women's soccer team will head on the road for the first time in three weeks for contests at Northern Illinois on Sept. 29 and at Western Michigan on the first day of October.
