Rockets Finish 3-2 in Dual Meets at Ball State Challenge

MUNCIE, Ind. - A pair of wins in throw and season-best times in both relays helped Toledo to a 3-2 dual meet record at the Ball State Challenge on Saturday.

The Rockets dropped dual meet scores against hosting Ball State (87-62) and Eastern Michigan (105-54) and defeated Fort Wayne (77-61), IUPUI (78-14) and Butler (79-39).

Katie Dewey won the discus with a throw of 48.63m and jumps to fifth on the Mid-American Conference leader board this season. Dewey also took second (14.72m) in the shot put and climbs her way to eighth in the conference.

Anna Bellman picked up the Rockets other win in the javelin with a heave of 37.27m, missing her season-best mark by 0.10m.

Both the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay ran season-best times to finish fourth and second, respectively.

The 1,500m run was a strong event for the Rockets as Toledo finished third, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth. Leading the charge was Athena Welsh with a season-best time of 4:33.62.

Alexa Jarrett soared a second place spot in the pole vault and moves up to ninth in the conference this year.

The Rockets compete in both the Jesse Owens Classic and the Virginia Challenge meets next weekend.
