Toledo Traveling to Hawaii for Rainbow Wahine Invitational

    TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo returns to the Aloha State for the first time in five years when it competes in Hawaii's Rainbow Wahine Invitational this week. The tournament will consist of 54 holes with 36 being played on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and the final 18 on Wednesday, Nov. 1. A 2:00 p.m. (ET) shotgun start will be utilized each day. In their first four tournaments this season, the Rockets have notched a runner-up showing at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 23-24), a fourth-place finish at Ball State's Cardinal Classic (Sept. 18-19), a sixth-place standing at Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational (Oct. 6-7) and an eighth-place finish at Louisville's Cardinal Cup (Oct. 21-22).
THE FIELD
• Twelve schools are participating in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,228-yard Leilehua Golf Course in O'ahu.
• Toledo is ranked No. 67 in the latest Golfstat computer rankings thanks to its performance against a competitive schedule. Also competing in Hawaii is No. 49 Memphis, No. 70 Sacramento State, No. 82 Mississippi, No. 102 Hawaii, No. 119 Princeton, No. 141 Nevada, No. 143 Grand Canyon, No. 180 Eastern Washington, No. 198 Boise State as well as NCAA Division II programs Hawaii-Hilo and Hawaii Pacific.

ROCKETS AT THE RAINBOW WAHINE INVITATIONAL
• Toledo will be making its second appearance at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The Rockets registered a second-place finish in the event in 2012. UT finished just two strokes behind tournament champion Florida International (895) with a three-round score of 897 (299-296-302). Sathika Ruenreong topped the Rockets in her first season as a collegian by finishing fifth after firing a five-over par 221 (76-72-73).
• UT's lineup this week will include junior Pimchanok Kawil at #1, junior Pinyada Kuvanun at #2, sophomore Saranlak Tumfong at #3, junior Hannah Kochendoerfer at #4 and junior Natcha Daengpiem at #5.
LOOKING BACK AT THE CARDINAL CUP
• Toledo registered an eighth-place finish at Louisville's Cardinal Cup with its top five finishers being No. 33 Louisville, No. 15 Illinois, No. 37 Wisconsin, No. 41 East Carolina and No. 20 Kent State.
• Juniors Pimchanok Kawil and Pinyada Kuvanun topped the Rockets individually by tying for 19th place at nine-over par 225. Kawil leads UT with a 73.1 stroke average, while Kuvanun is slightly behind her classmate at 73.4.
• Sophomore Saranlak Tumfong tied for 42nd place with her best round an even-par 72 on Saturday afternoon. Tumfong ranks third in team scoring average at 75.7
• Junior Hannah Kochendoerfer (78.3 average) carded UT's best round over the final 18 holes with a four-over par 76.
• Junior Natcha Daengpiem competed in her first tournament this season and tied for 68th place at 25-over par 241 (79-81-81).
ON THE HORIZON
• Toledo will return to action on February 12-13, 2018 at the Battle at Boulder Creek in Boulder City, Nevada.
