Toledo Notches Second-Place Showing at Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, IN – Toledo finished eight strokes shy of opening its 2016-17 campaign with a victory on Tuesday and had to settle for second place at Ball State's Cardinal Classic. The Rockets registered the best team total in today's final round with a five-over par 293 but that wasn't enough to overcome tournament champion Eastern Kentucky.

The Colonels concluded the 54-hole tournament at 10-over par 874 (290-290-294) and were led by medalist Elsa Moberly's impressive five-under par 211 (72-69-70). She was joined in the top five by Sofie Levin in fourth place at even-par 216 (75-72-69).

Junior Napaphan Phongpaiboon paced the Rockets today with a career-best one-under par 71 to finish tied for 19^th place at 10-over par 226 (82-73-71). Sophomores Pinyada Kuvanun (72-73-73=218) and Pimchanok Kawil (74-72-73=219) both registered Top-10 showings for UT by placing sixth and tied for seventh, respectively.

Rounding out the Rockets' lineup were sophomores Natcha Daengpiem (T-27^th/76-76-76=228) and Hannah Kochendoerfer (T-27^th/73-77-78=228).

Freshmen Saranlak Tumfong (77-78-74=229) and Thunpijja Sukkasem (81-73-78=232) competed as individuals and tied for 35^th and 43^rd place, respectively.
