TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (1-0) will look to continue the momentum from its season-opening victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi when it hosts Atlantic 10 member Rhode Island (1-1) on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN3 (1230 AM, WCWA). Tomorrow's home opener is the first of a doubleheader, as the Rocket men's team will follow with a game against Youngstown State at 8:00 p.m.
UT is coming off an impressive 76-60 road triumph over the Islanders on Saturday. The Rockets shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the field, including 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from three-point land, to snap a three-game losing skid in season openers. Toledo also limited Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to 31.6 percent (18-of-57) from the floor and forced 18 turnovers, which they translated into 29 points. Â
Offensively, junior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott paced Toledo with a game-high 16 points, followed by sophomore Mikaela Boyd with a career-high 10 points, to go along with a contest-best six assists and a game-high three steals. Sophomore Olivia Cunningham added nine points off the bench, followed closely by sophomore Sarah St-Fort and freshman Mariella Santucci with seven points each. Â
Rhode Island returns two starters and nine letterwinners from last season's 12-18 squad, guided by third-year head coach Daynia La-Force.Â
The Rams split their first two games this year, most recently claiming an 82-61 home victory vs. Marist on Sunday. Morgan Johnson and Amari Johnson both set career highs in scoring against the Red Foxes, combining for 25 points in the double-digit win. Johnson had 12 points, hitting a career-high four three-pointers, and Johnson contributed 13 points off the bench.
