Rockets Run to Fifth-Place Finish in MAC Championships

KENT, Ohio - Junior Joan Jepkirui and senior Maja Pacaric both place in the Top 25 to lead the Toledo women's cross country team to a fifth place finish in Saturday's Mid-American Conference Championships at the Kent State Golf Course.
Jepkirui finished the 6,000 meter course in a time of 21:58.2 which was good for 18th place. Pacaric was the second Rocket to break the tape as she ran a 22:03.3 for 23rd place.
Junior Stephanie Barlow and freshman Athena Welsh crossed the line in 27th and 28th place, respectively. Barlow edged out Welsh by a tenth of a second, clocking in at 22:10.1. Welsh, one of the best freshman in the conference, finished second among rookie runners.
Sophomore Jennifer Lichter rounded out the scoring for the Rockets in 31st position, 22:20.6.
Eastern Michigan took home its second straight championship behind a first place finish from Jordann McDermitt.Â
The Midnight Blue and Gold next competes in Madison, Wis. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 11 at noon.
