Sophomores Zach Garber and Jordan Lauf Named to Academic All-MAC Squad

Garber is a communication major with 3.371 GPA and Lauf a business major with 3.478 GPA
TOLEDO, OH – The Mid-American Conference named their All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon with sophomores Zach Garber (Carey, OH) and Jordan Lauf (Napoleon, OH) among the 18 student-athletes selected.
   A communication major with a 3.371 grade-point average, Garber averaged 2.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game with a 72.4 free-throw percentage (42-of-58) in 12.8 minutes per game off the bench. He tallied a season-best seven points vs. Central Michigan (Jan. 6) and Northern Illinois (Feb. 25) and scored six points and grabbed career-best six rebounds in UT's season opener vs. Northern Arizona (Nov. 16).
   Lauf served as Rockets' top contributor off the bench and holds a 3.478 grade-point average in business. He averaged 4.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 steals per game in 19.2 minutes per game and shot 35.3 percent (12-of-33) from three-point range. Lauf tied his career high with 12 points and six rebounds in 20 minutes vs. Chicago State (Dec. 6) and also registered seven points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes at Oregon (Nov. 21).
   The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
