Calhoun Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

he lefty from Tipp City, OH earns the accolade for the second time this season.
TOLEDO, OH – University of Toledo pitcher Steven Calhoun was named the Male Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon. This is the second time this season that Calhoun has been honored with this accolade.
The 6-7 lefty from Tipp City, OH sports an impressive 3.9636 grade-point average and is majoring in business. Calhoun is coming off one of his best starts of the season as he tossed 7.0 scoreless innings against Western Michigan last weekend to help guide Toledo to a 2-1 series victory.
Calhoun was also named MAC West Pitcher of the Week for his dominant performance in Kalamazoo last weekend.
The Rockets return home this weekend for a three-game series against MAC foe Northern Illinois at Scott Park. Calhoun is currently penciled in to start Saturday's game vs. the Huskies at 1:00 p.m.
