Rockets Knocked Out of MAC Championships With 4-3 Loss To Eastern Michigan

It was Toledo's second 4-3 loss to the Eagles this season.
OXFORD, OH – The Toledo women's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Friday afternoon, as the Rockets lost 4-3 to Eastern Michigan in the first round of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championships at Miami's Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Rockets finish the season with a 13-10 overall record, as the Eagles defeated UT for the second time this season by the score of 4-3.
Toledo started off the match hot by winning the doubles point. Despite dropping the first doubles match at the No. 2 spot, the Rockets fought back with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Junior Mackenzie Bowman and freshman Sidnay Huck tallied a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot for the duo's 14th win of the year, and senior Pia Rygh and sophomore Lauren Thai clinched the point with their 13th win of the season at the top doubles spot with a 6-4 victory.
EMU tied up the match with a win at No. 1 singles, but Toledo took the lead right back, as Thai won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6 singles to make the match 2-1. Rygh, a second-team All-MAC selection, increased the Midnight Blue & Gold lead to 3-1, fighting back from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, at the No. 2 singles spot.
Each of the last three singles matchups went to three sets, with the Eagles coming out on top in each to claim the 4-3 victory.
At No. 5 singles, Bowman took her opponent to a tiebreak in the first set, but fell just short, then tied up the match with a second-set victory. A loss in set three cut the UT lead to 3-2.
EMU tied up the match with a win at No. 3 singles. Huck dropped set one 6-3, but battled back to take the second set 7-5. The third set went into a tiebreaker, where the Eagles barely slipped by with a 7-5 win in the tiebreak.
Junior Emily Mazzola also fought back from a first-set loss to take the second set 6-4, but was unable to close out the match, as EMU won 7-5 in the third and deciding set.
