
Eastern Michigan Spoils Toledo's Senior Day

Rockets fall to Eagles on Friday, 4-3
TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo women's tennis team was unable to secure a victory on senior day, dropping a competitive Mid-American Conference match to Eastern Michigan, 4-3 on Friday at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
With the loss, the Rockets fell to 13-8 overall and 4-3 in conference action.
UT started out hot, claiming the doubles points with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
Senior Pia Rygh and sophomore Lauren Thai earned their 12th win as a doubles team at the top spot, with a 6-3 win, while junior Mackenzie Bowman and freshman Sidnay Huck won by the same score at the three slot.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles play, UT dropped matches at Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles, as the Eagles clinched the match.
Huck dropped her first set 6-2, but battled back with wins in the next two sets to score a point at No. 3 singles, while Thai won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.
Huck's win gives her nine on the season with a 4-3 record in MAC play, while it was Thai's 11th victory and fourth within the league.
In No. 5 singles, Bowman won the first set and was up in set No. 2, before an ankle injury forced her retire in the third and deciding set.
The Rockets conclude their regular season on Saturday, April 18 with a match at Western Michigan. The contest is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
