Rockets Close Out Regular Season With a Win Against Big Ten Foe Michigan State

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team closed out the 2013-14 dual season with a victory over Michigan State by the score of 148-94 on Saturday afternoon.
The Rockets took first place in 10 out 13 events at the UT Student Recreation Center and had four swimmers win multiple events against the Spartans.
Senior Beth Rogers was perfect on the day placing first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.11) and the 100-yard butterfly (57.08). Senior Christina Noens swam in the 500 freestyle for the first time in her collegiate career, taking first-place with a time of 5:03.08.
Noens and Rogers teamed up with sophomores Brooke Edwards and Lauren Comer to win the 400-yard freestyle relay. Edwards picked up an individual win in 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.62, and Comer claimed victory in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:08.13.
UT also had personal victory, as freshman Jamie Skowronek, Comer, Edwards and Noens recorded a time of 7:37.72 in the 800-yard freestyle relay, setting the pool record.
Half of the team also competed in this weekend's Ohio State Invite in Columbus, OH.
Junior Hannah Hornis recorded three third place finishes at the two-day tournament, in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle. Sophomore Alex Durkin added two top five finishes as well, placing fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and second in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Rockets will spend the next couple of weeks gearing up for the 2014 MAC Championships beginning on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, OH.
