TOLEDO, OH - October is National Physical Therapy Month, held yearly by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to recognize the roles physical therapists and physical therapist assistants play in restoring and improving motion in people's lives. There are many specialty areas in physical therapy practice, including sports physical therapy.Â
The Toledo Sports Medicine staff is fortunate to have an outstanding physical therapist, Jen Miller, PT, MPT, SCS, who is currently in her eighth season with the Rockets. She works alongside the athletic trainers & physicians to provide care including rehabilitation and prevention programs to the student-athletes of each sport. Miller is a graduate of Ohio University, and became a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy in 2009. She is involved with consumer education for the APTA and public relations for the Sports Section of the APTA. In addition to helping student-athletes, she is active in clinical and classroom education of students of physical therapy and athletic training.Â
Miller is a native of Wauseon, OH and lives in Elmore, OH. When not supporting the Rockets, she and her husband John enjoy outdoors recreation and travel. They are expecting their first child in March.
