Toledo Mayor Kapszukiewicz Proclaims March to be National Athletic Training Month in City of Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio – Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz issued a proclamation on Tuesday declaring March as National Athletic Training Month in the City of Toledo.
Â
Members of the University of Toledo Sports Medicine staff visited with the mayor on Tuesday to form a partnership and help bring awareness to the work of athletic trainers within the city.
Â
National Athletic Training Month was established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association to recognize the expertise of athletic trainers and acknowledge their role in the development and health care of athletes at various levels. The 2023 slogan is, "There's an AT for That."
Â
Athletic training involves the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, or chronic injuries or medical conditions. It is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied healthcare profession.
Â
In addition to university settings, athletic trainers can work in high schools, professional sports, rehabilitation clinics, physician offices, corporate and industrial institutions, the military, and the performing arts.
Â
The proclamation by the City of Toledo recognizes the work of local, regional, and state athletic trainers while promoting the growth and understanding of the profession within the region.
