Rockets Tie for Ninth at Inverness Intercollegiate

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo moved up one spot into a ninth-place tie with Michigan in Tuesday's final round at the Inverness Intercollegiate. The tournament was at the historic par-71, 7,255-yard Inverness Club.

Freshman Otto Black paced the Rockets with a 54-hole score of four-over 217 (72-72-73) to tie for 11th place. Sophomore Chris Selfridge matched Black for the Rockets' best round of the day with a two-over 73 to tie for 25th place at 10-over par 223 (76-74-73). Sophomore Mike Lancaster finished alone in 39th place with his second straight four-over par 75 to finish tied for 39th place at 14-over par 227 (77-75-75=227). Rounding out the Rocket lineup were junior Oliver Holtsberry (55th/75-80-80=235) and sophomore Nate Gonring (T-61st/79-78-89=246).

Freshman Bobby Thomas led four Rocket individuals tying for 48th place with a 54-hole score of 232 (78-76-78). He was followed by sophomore Jamie Richardson (58th/76-83-83=242), sophomore Pat Cermak (60th/82-80-83=245) and freshman Thomas Shindler (T-61st/85-82-79=246).

"I thought we grinded out a solid round today in some tough conditions," said Toledo Head Coach Jamie Broce after the Rockets tied for the fifth-best score of the day. "We were disappointed in our performance yesterday, and it was good to see us perform much better today

Northwestern captured the team title at 16-over par 868 (285-288-295), finishing 11 strokes ahead of Florida State (289-289-301=879), Kent State (289-292-298=879) and North Texas (284-284-311=879).

Sharing medalist honors at two-over par 215 were the Wildcats' Jack Perry (70-72-73) and Golden Flashes' Kevin Miller (66-75-74).

Toledo will return to action this weekend when it heads to the Windy City to take part in Northwestern's Windon Memorial Classic on Sunday-Monday, Sept. 23-24.
