
Kevin Kowalski Selected to Play in Senior Bowl

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo senior Kevin Kowalski (Macedonia, OH/Nordonia H.S.) has been selected to play in the 2011 Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL on Jan. 29, 2011, bowl officials announced today. He is the first Rocket to play in the Senior Bowl since quarterback Gene Swick appeared in the 1976 game.
"It's very exciting and humbling to be selected to play in the Senior Bowl," said Kowalski, who is working out in California in preparation for the 2011 NFL Draft. "I'm grateful for the opportunity."
Kowalski will head to Mobile on Sunday, Jan. 23 and spend the week practicing with fellow seniors. The game kicks off at 4:00 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, Jan. 29 and will be televised on the NFL Network.
Kowalski, a 6-4, 299-pound center, was a four-year starter for the Rockets, starting in 47 consecutive games in his career. He played his first two seasons at right guard, then switched to center as a junior. He was the leader of an offensive line that ranked fourth in Mid-American Conference in total offense (365.4/game) and third in rushing yards (163.8).
Kowalski, an education major with a 3.67 grade-point average, recently was named Academic All-MAC.
