TOLEDO, OH - University of Toledo's Jeff Cinadr was drafted on Thursday in the 36th round (1,099th overall pick) of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Cinadr appeared in a school-record 30 games out of the bullpen this spring, sporting a 2-0 ledger with a team-low 4.15 ERA and two saves. He accumulated 39.0 innings of work, surrendering 22 runs (18 earned) on 30 hits with 34 strikeouts. The right-handed pitcher ranked fourth in the MAC in total appearances and was also second in appearances (16) in league play. An excellent student in the classroom as well, Cinadr was recently named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV with a 3.685 GPA in bioengineering.
The Hudson, OH native is the third Rocket in as many days to be drafted. Justin Collop was selected by the Chicago White Sox with the 193rd pick of the sixth round and 2009-10 signee Mike Hamann was chosen by the Cleveland Indians with the 725th pick of the 24th round. UT's three draftees tie a single-season school record, equalled in 1976 and 2003.
