KALAMAZOO, MI - The women's tennis team suffered a tough loss on Saturday to the Western Michigan Broncos, falling 7-0.
"This was a tough loss for us but I still believe that we are getting better as a team as the team is having to step up without Martina," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. " I believe that we have a few players hitting their stride right now. We will continue to battle our way through the conference season in preparation of the MAC tournament."
Maha Guirguis played the longest match of the day in No. 2 singles when she faced off against Emily Dudzik. Guirguis and Dudzik played a three-set match with each set going to a tie breaker. Dudzik took the first set 7-6 (4) and then Guirguis responded with a 7-6 (2) win in the second set. With the overall match already decided, Dudzik won the super tiebreaker 10-5 for the victory in No. 2 singles.
UT will continue to work through a five-match road streak when it heads to Ypsilanti, MI next Saturday to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
