Men's Tennis Sweeps Weekend Matches

TOLEDO, OH - Despite a tough travel schedule that saw the men's tennis team play two games in two different states on Saturday, the squad was able to collect three wins over the weekend. On Friday, Toledo scored a 5-2 win over Duquesne. Saturday saw the Midnight Blue and Gold score a 5-2 victory over Temple and a 6-1 win over Youngstown State University.
Sophomore Sven Burus was lights out for the Rockets over the weekend, picking up a pair of singles wins as well as a pair of doubles wins. Both of Burus' singles wins came in No. 3 singles while his doubles wins came in the No. 3 slot.
Senior Jared Miller also picked up three wins for the Rockets including two in No. 1 singles. Miller topped Zach Skorupka of Duquesne 6-1, 6-1 on Friday and picked up a three-set victory over Temple's Filip Rams on Saturday.
The Rockets capped the weekend by crossing state lines and defeating Youngstown State, securing a 6-1 victory over the Penguins.
The three wins collected this weekend push Toledo's record on the season to 14-7 and the squad has eight wins in their last 10 head-to-head matches.
The Rockets will be in action next when they clash with Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo this Saturday at home. The match starts at 12:00 p.m.
