
Toledo Opening Spring Campaign at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

TOLEDO, OH ? Toledo opens its 2009 spring season when it travels to Pinehurst, NC to compete in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Sunday-Tuesday, March 15-17. The Rockets are participating in this event for a third straight year and will play 18 holes each day at the Centennial Pinehurst Course No. 8 (par-72, 7,035 yards) with 19 other schools. The first two rounds will begin with 8:00 a.m. tee times off No. 1 and No. 10, with the final round beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
The Rockets will be competing against a field that includes two Mid-American Conference schools (Ball State and Miami) and four Big Ten members (Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Penn State). Also participating in the tournament are Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Marquette, Marshall, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Old Dominion, Radford, Southern Mississippi, VCU, Virginia Tech, Western Illinois and Wichita State.
Sophomores Ben Boyer and Nathan Wine lead the Rockets with 75.3 stroke averages with sophomore Jean-Hubert Trahan and junior Jerel Whiting just behind them at 75.6 and 76.1, respectively.
