Women's Tennis Blanks Cleveland State, 7-0

TOLEDO, OH - In their second home match of the season, the Rockets duplicated the end result from their home opener last Friday when the Toledo women's tennis team defeated Cleveland State 7-0 on Saturday at Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis Club.
"I am pleased with the overall effort yesterday against a dangerous Cleveland State team," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "I feel like we are moving in the right direction with conference play right around the corner."
Martina Wodzinski and Maha Guirguis won yet another No. 1 singles match for UT, defeating Charlotte Gibbons and Catrine Bjerrehus 8-2. Wodzinski faced Gibbons in No. 1 singles and won 6-3, 6-0. UT's Ashley Frey took on Bjerrehus in No. 2 singles and won the point for the Rockets, 6-3, 6-2. Guirguis continued her streak at No. 3 singles with her ninth straight victory when she defeated Melissa Holzinger 6-3, 6-2.
Frey and Nadia Zoubareva played at No. 2 singles for UT and defeated Holzinger and Jackie Tabb, 8-5. Zoubareva and Tabb met up again in No. 4 singles with Zoubareva winning the match in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Jenny Belsky and Jessica Azoulay also won their singles matches, playing in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Rockets now look to their annual spring break trip as they will head to Palm Springs, CA from March 8-14.
