TOLEDO, OH - Muskegon, MI native Chris Anderson has signed a national letter of intent and will be joining the Rockets' basketball program in the 2010-11 campaign, Head Coach Gene Cross announced on Wednesday.
A 6-5 forward, Anderson averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds per game as a junior for Reeths Puffer High School to earn honorable mention Class A all-state honors as well as being a member of the Muskegon Chronicle's Class A-B All-Area squad. He played for the Grand Rapids Storm on the AAU level and is ranked as the 67th-best small forward on ESPN's national ranking of high school recruits.
"We want to have a good mix of skill, size and athleticism in our program and Chris gives us another superior athlete to put out on the court," Cross said. "Chris has good skills right now, but I think we can improve his skill set even more when he gets on campus. There are some things you can't teach, and that's the length and athleticism that Chris possesses. He's a tremendous energy guy and is someone who can block shots, rebound and get to the rim. We're really looking forward to adding his body type and his game to our program."
Anderson is expected to be the Rockets' only signee for the 2010-11 campaign and will be a part of a freshman class that already includes three players on Toledo's roster. UT is planning to redshirt 6-8, 210-pound forward Hayden Humes, 6-9, 215-pound forward Devin Russell and 5-10, 165-pound guard Neil Watson.
