September 1st
This day was about to be a long day. We woke up at 9:30 a.m. and headed straight for the bus. We headed back downtown for some more sightseeing of Toronto. Tim Horton's was the popular spot for most of us for a qucik breakfast. The most interesting part about breakfast came when senior Tamesha Scotton handed the cashier a $10-dollar bill, (remind you, in Canadian money), for a meal that was only $3 dollars. When she received only change back she became confused. When she realized she was receiving no dollar bills, she panicked. We all looked at her confused and started to laugh. Good times!!!
After breakfast we were set free for four hours to do some girls things...shopping was it!!! For most of us, we would rather not look in our bank accounts until we receive our next check...sophomore Lisa Johnson in particular.
After the adventurous day in the mall, we headed for the bus. Three hours on the bus until we reached our destination, but we finally were there. We thought the money difference was big, but the basketball court and rules clearly were a bigger problem - 24-second shot clock, eight seconds in the backcourt, acute triangle shape paint, penalty instead of a foul, and four 10-minute periods...definitely Canadian ball!!! Our first time together on the court made us anxious for what was to come. After a long day in the city, a three-hour bus ride, and two-hour game, our minds and bodies were craving rest. Lights out by midnight, because we had another game day ahead!!!
September 2nd
Now that we finally got over the canadian money and rules, we were ready to begin another day. We kicked our day off at breakfast at 9:30 a.m. We then left our hotel rooms for the last time to get on the bus and leave a part of our Canadian experience behind. More movies and sleeping followed during our two-hour road trip to London, ONT, where we faced our final opponent, Western Ontario.
At the start of the game, both teams exchanged university T-shirts, and then the ball was in play. From start to finish, our team stuck together and pulled out another impressive victory. Just like yesterday, though, the rules had not changed. We were finally starting to get it, but now it was time to head back to America.
Four o'clock in the afternoon finally rolled around and back to the US we headed. With all of us girls so anxious to be back in our home of Toledo, our one and only Jessie Campo decided to prolong our stay. We were stuck at the border because she was without her ID from Switzerland. After 40 minutes of waiting and wishing to only be back in America, "Campo" graced us with her presence and gave us the "go" to head across the line. We finally arrived back at Savage Hall around 9:00 p.m. With classes begining in two days, our pockets full of crisp green dollars bills, a 30-second shot clock, two 20-minute halves, and a big square paint was all coming back to us. Even though it is only September 2nd, game time in Savage Hall is not too far away, and America is the only way we do work!!!
