Muncie, IN. The Rockets won 14 of the 16 events they competed in during the meet.
“We swam really well today,” Head Coach Lars Jorgensen said. “Overall, I am pleased with our performance. We kept up to the challenge.”
Starting the meet, the Rockets went one-two in the 400-yard medley relay. Then Cormack won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:23.22, three seconds faster than the second-place finisher. UT then took the first three spots in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke with freshman
Jacy Dyer and Hazelton winning in their respective events. Also winning her event was junior
Kylie Gamelier in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.59.
“Caitlin Cormack and Shannon Hazelton scored outstanding in their events,” Jorgensen said. “They set the tone for the entire meet.”
Senior Liz Hinkleman won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.01 and the 100 freestyle 54.35. Hazelton also won the 200 backstroke and the 200 IM with times of 2:08.09 and 2:11.99, respectively. In the 200 breaststroke, junior
Amanda Breen came in with a time of 2:24.24, while Megan Reissig had a time of 5:08.26 in the 500 freestyle.
Winning both diving events was senior Megan McKinley with 273.67 pointsin the one-meter and 296.10 points in the three-meter. “Our divers did good today as well,” Jorgensen said.
The Rockets' next meet will be on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Ypsilanti, MI against Eastern Michigan starting at 1:00 p.m.
