Rockets' Offense Stifled in 66-35 Defeat at Old Dominion

NORFOLK, VA - Toledo (1-2) could never quite get its offense going tonight as the Rockets dropped a 66-35 decision at Old Dominion (2-0) before a crowd of 7,828 at the Monarchs' Ted Constant Convocation Center. The point total was UT's lowest since falling by a 78-33 margin at Michigan State on Nov. 22, 1999.

Junior guard Jonathan Amos led the Rockets with nine points, while senior forward Jerrah Young contributed a career-high nine rebounds.

Old Dominion utilized a balanced attack with senior Abdi Lidonde (11), senior Brian Henderson (11) and sophomore Gerald Lee (10) all scoring in double figures. Senior Brandon Johnson probably produced the best game though for the Monarchs with nine points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and five steals. Senior center Sam Harris also made his 7-foot-3 presence felt with seven blocked shots.

Toledo struggled out of the gates on the offensive end for a second straight contest. After spotting Vanderbilt an 18-0 advantage on Tuesday, the Rockets were still in the game vs. ODU trailing 5-2 four minutes into the game. UT couldn't take advantage of any of its opportunities though and the Monarchs took over with a 20-3 run to take a 25-5 lead with 6:52 to play in the first half. The closest the Rockets could come the rest of the way was 15 points.

Toledo returns to action with a trip down I-75 to face Dayton on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m.
