Seniors Danielle Bishop and Savannah Werner each tallied 20 points to pace the Rockets, while junior Olivia Terry added 12 points and classmate Ta'Yani Clark chipped in 10 points. UT was limited to 37.7 percent (26-of-69) from the floor.
The RedHawks exploded out of the gates and scored the game's first seven points. The home team hit four of their first five-field goal attempts, while the Rockets misfired on their initial five shots and commit pair of turnovers. UT did not get score until the 15:39 mark when Terry converted a layup.
Miami continued to attack offensively on the low blocks and four-consecutive points from Stephanie Ford made the score 19-6 with 12:13 left. Sixteen of the RedHawks' first 19 points came in the paint.
UT's Terry provided a spark off the bench as the first half progressed and kept the visitors within striking distance. The Richmond, KY native tallied seven points in the stanza and the score was 29-20 with 6:45 left.
The nine-point difference would be the closest the Rockets would get in the half, as Miami's Hawkins tallied 13 points in the first 20 minutes and the home team led 41-30 at the intermission.
Hawkins continued her dominance to start the second half and tallied eight of Miami's first 10 points to make the score 51-41 with 14:41 remaining.
The Rockets just had no answer tonight for Miami's fast-break pace and a triple by Jackson pushed the deficit to 63-44 with 13:00 left.
Despite facing a sizable deficit, UT would not go quiet and a fast-break layup by Bishop followed quickly by a triple from sophomore Diana Reindl closed the gap to 76-67 with 4:26 left. The Rockets would get as close as eight points in the waning moments, but it was not good enough in the end.
