Toledo, OH - The University of Toledo women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 4-3 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday at UT Varsity Courts. The Rockets improve to 14-6 overall, 5-3 in the Mid-American Conference and will likely be the fourth seed in the MAC Tournament later this week.
The Rockets No. 1 doubles tandem of Eunice Paravicini and Myriam Cueva capped off a perfect 8-0 MAC season with a 9-7 win at the top position.
Paravicini made it 2-2 on the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles, while Cueva went the distance in her No. 2 singles contest, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
Sarah Horning provided the clincher for the Rockets with a three-set victory at fifth singles despite losing the opening set. After struggling for much of the year in third-set situations, the sophomore came through when her team needed her most, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Rockets head to Oxford, OH for the MAC Tournament beginning with the quarterfinals on Thursday and culminating in the finals on Saturday.
