Toledo, OH - The Toledo women's tennis tough lost a 4-3 heart-breaker to Miami on Saturday afternoon at Laurel Hill. The RedHawks, who are unbeaten all-time vs. Toledo, captured the doubles point, which proved to be the difference.
The Rockets (10-4, 1-1 MAC) played their second consecutive nail-biting match after defeating Ball State at Laurel Hill on Friday. Today, however, the Midnight Blue and Gold could not recover from losing the doubles point, falling for the 32nd straight time to the RedHawks.
UT split the singles matches with MU, as Jenny Belsky won at fourth singles handily (6-0, 6-0). Eunice Paravicini also had little trouble, winning 6-1, 6-1 at the second flight, while Myriam Cueva won her second consecutive three-setter 6-7 (7-4), 6-3, 6-4.
"We were just as strong today as we were yesterday, we didn't come out flat," Head Coach Tracy Honko said. "Not getting the doubles point hurt us, but the singles matches were very tight. We showed a lot of heart today and that's what I want to see as a coach. We have a lot of fighters on our team. The teams in the MAC are very evenly matched this year."
Toledo returns to action on Friday at Northern Illinois at 1 P.M.
