TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Whitney Davis scored 18 points off the bench, including the second-half basket that put Ohio ahead to stay, in the Bobcats' 71-68 victory over Toledo on Saturday.
Jeremy Fears added 14 points - all in the first half - and Leon Williams had 13 for Ohio (11-3, 5-1 Mid-American Conference).
Junior guard Justin Ingram had a game-high 20 points and sophomore guard Kashif Payne and junior forward Florentino Valencia each scored 15 for Toledo (8-7, 1-6).
The Rockets took their only lead of the second half at 44-43 on junior guard Keonta Howell's layup with 15:41 left. Davis scored at the other end to give the Bobcats the lead for good.
Ohio hit 67 percent of its shots from the field in the opening half yet led only 36-32 because of 17 turnovers. The Bobcats had only seven turnovers in the final 20 minutes.
The Rockets return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 24 with a trip to DeKalb, IL to battle MAC West Division leader Northern Illinois (9-6, 4-3 MAC). Tip-off time is set for 8:05 p.m. EST.
