Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Toledo Head Coach Stan Joplin

"We just can't get over the hump. We're not getting the loose balls and we didn't get enough production from guys other than Tino, Kashif and Justin. Ohio made the plays that they needed to do to win and we didn't."

"Our players are just trying to do too much and they play too fast sometimes. We're changing our shots when we go to the basket instead of going up strong."

"The attitude of the guys is still pretty good right now considering the circumstances. We just have to keep battling and keep working hard. I think if we can just get a win that would be a big boost in the arm."

Junior forward Florentino Valencia

(on Ohio's run in the second half to win the game)

"They just made plays and we have to tip our hat to them. They went to the NCAA Tournament last year and they came up with the plays they needed to. Ohio also executed a little better in the second half."

(on the team's slow start)

"I'm very disappointed. Coach has been on us about that. We're coming out too sluggish and not enough energy. We have to make some changes to stop from doing that."

(on what the team has to do to break out of slump)

"We just have to keep the faith. We're down right now and we just need to keep believing ourselves and keep our faith in Coach Joplin and his principles. You have to believe that we're going to win and stay together as a team."

Ohio Head Coach Tim O'Shea

"This was a huge win for us because Ohio hasn't won in this building in about 10 years. What I'm really pleased about is that this win was orchestrated by our bench. It shows the strength of our team because we had 17 turnovers in the first half and I went to the other guys because we had some careless passes in the second half."

"The race in the East is so tight and every win you can get on the road is critical right now."

"I think Toledo's record is incredibly deceiving. They've played so many road games in the conference so far. What I looked at is that they are 7-1 at home and they're 29-3 at Savage Hall over the last three years. When they start to get some home games their win total is going to pick up in a hurry. I think they'll be right there in the West Division at the end of the season."
