With tonight's victory, Toledo has now won 14th straight at the Glass Bowl and is 31-1 in its last 32 games at home.
Coach is 5-0 in home openers. The average margin of victory in those five wins has been 36.2 points.
The 62 points scored is the fifth-highest total in UT history. It is the most points scored by UT since a 65-13 win at Eastern Michigan in 2002.
Toledo scored 41 points in the opening half against the Leathernecks which ranks as the fifth-most points registered in one half in school history. The Rockets also tallied 28 points in the second quarter alone to rank as the third-most points in a single quarter in school annals.
Toledo scored three touchdowns by return: one off an interception, one off a fumble recovery and one on a kickoff return.
On the sixth play from scrimmage, senior CB picked off his sixth career pass and ran 60 yards for his first career TD. Toledo tallied three defensive touchdowns in 2004.
Sophomore CB scooped up a fumble and raced 37 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. The touchdown was the third defensive score for Morris in 14 career contests. He had an 88-yard interception return for a score vs. Temple (9/25) and also returned a fumble for a 26-yard TD vs. Ohio (10/16).
To open the second half, redshirt freshman RB returned the kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown. Despite being only Davis' second collegiate touch, the 94-yard return ranks as the third longest kickoff return for a score in school history. Chuck Hardy holds the record with a 100-yard return for a score vs. John Carroll in 1948.
Davis also finished with 111 yards rushing on 13 carries, including a nine-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Freshman walk-on TE John Allen caught his first collegiate pass in the second quarter, hauling in a four-yard TD pass from senior QB .
Gradkowski was 9-of-17 for 134 yards and two TDs. He sat out the entire second half. Back , a redshirt freshman, was 7-of-9 for 57 yards.
Toledo's defense forced six turnovers, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries. The defense scored two touchdowns and set up a field goal. Toledo also blocked a punt that set up another field goal.
The use of instant replay to review officials' calls made its Mid-American Conference debut tonight. Officials reviewed a pass completion from to at the end of the first half to see if Redd had crossed the goal line. The original call, which had Redd down at the one-yard line, stood up.
